HMS DAUNTLESS Sea Ride

On 29 April 2010, 3 Midshipman from Trojan Squadron were given the opportunity to join HMS DAUNTLESS for the transit from Edinburgh to Newcastle.

RN High Mountain Based Training

The HMBT is a course designed to challenge and develop RN personnel under arduous conditions in the Scottish highlands.

Ex LIGHTNING STRIKE 2010

On Friday the 5th of March a team of 9 OCdts from Trojan Squadron travelled down to Blandford Camp to take part in Exercise LIGHTNING STRIKE; an annual competition organised by the Royal Corps of Signals for the DTUS and University Officer Training Corps, consisting of various Command Tasks as well as Physical challenges.

In the second match of the year Trojan Squadron Netball Squad played Northumbrian Universities Air Squadron in a very close match.

Ex TROJAN NIGHTHAWK

Ex TROJAN NIGHT HAWK was a non-tactical Leadership development exercise for 2nd Year Trojan Squadron bursars to develop Leadership and Officership skills such as confidence, initiative and lateral thinking.

Ex TROJAN NORHEIM 1

Exercise TROJAN NORHEIM 1 was an alpine skiing exercise in the Val Thorens region of the French Alps. The aim of the exercise was to give Trojan squadron members the opportunity to experience alpine skiing for the first time or to provide them with more experience in order to participate on future adventurous training courses.

Trojan Squadron Netball Team Victory

In their first match the newly formed Trojan Squadron Netball Team stormed to victory againt the Northumbria Universities Royal Naval Unit 32 - 3.

Christmas social celebrating the end of term

To celebrate the end of term and the start of the Chrismas holidays Trojan Squadron hosted a themed Christmas social.

Games, fun and fancy dress provided for a welcomed unwind ready for the holidays - and then the build-up to exams.

CO's Shield: Inter Troop Sports Competition: Football

The second event in the CO's shield kicked-off at Eldon Leisure on Wednesday 02 Dec 09 as teams from all 7 troops and a staff team played a 5-a-side football tournament.

Guest Dinner Night

Trojan Squadron hosted the annual Guest Dinner Night for 2009 at the Assembly Rooms in Newcastle to thank those that support the squadron and its bursars

Ex PURPLE HURRICANE 09

First Year Bursars from Trojan Squadron set out from HMS CALLIOPE heading for Otterburn training area for a weekend to refresh basic knowledge of living out in the field, and promote and develop leadership potential in bursars by placing them in pressure situations in arduous conditions.

CO's Shield - Inter Troop Sports Competition : BasketBall

Wednesday 14th October started off the Commanding Officers' Shield with an Inter-troop Basketball competition.

Ex SHRIVENHAM DOLLOP

Exercise Shrivenham Dollop was a climbing expedition to the Dolomites in Italy, for the duration of the expedition members camped in the mountain town of Cortina. The aim of the expedition was to provide logbook experience for the members with the view of working towards the rock leader training award. Ex Shrivenham Dollop consisted of 6 OCdt’s and 1 regular officer from Trojan Squadron.

Ex SHRIVENHAM HEKLA

Exercise SHRIVENHAM HEKLA was a multi activity adventurous training exercise that took place in Iceland over the period 29 Jun – 14 Jul 2009. During the course of the exercise participants completed the arduous Skogar – Landmannalauger trek, two days of single pitch rock climbing and a day of white water rafting.

Ex SHRIVENHAM PACCARD

Ex SHRIVENHAM PACCARD was a Level 3 rock climbing expedition attended by 6 officer cadets and 1 regular officer from Trojan Squadron. It ran between 19 Aug – 3 Sep 09. The aim of the expedition was for personnel who had climbed throughout the academic year to gain logbook experience to prepare them for application to the JSAT rock leader training course. This was quantified by aiming to have all expedition members comfortably leading at least grade 5 by the end of the trip.

Ex SHRIVENHAM SOBRASSADA

Exercise Shrivenham Sobrassada was a sailing expedition to teach novice personnel how to sail by circumnavigating the island of Mallorca. The crew consisted of 9 OCdts from Trojan and Thunderer Squadrons and 1 regular Officer from Trojan Squadron.
